As Business Process Manager for Mondeléz International, Martin Creese is based in the UK but supports the delivery of Regional and Global Source to Pay initiatives. Not only does Martin drive compliance within processes, but he also looks for opportunities for process improvement and simplification.

In 2009 Martin joined Cadbury, accounting for commodity hedging, then moving into the integration project with Kraft before becoming BPM in 2012.

After qualifying as an ACCA, for the first twenty years of his career, Martin worked for a number of business sectors from FMCG to manufacturing to the private hospital sector but always with an interest in Source to Pay. Much of his career has seen Martin working within an SAP environment, which he views as a key partner in Source to Pay improvements.

1) If you could be anybody for a day, who would you be and why?

I know it sounds a simple answer but I’m happy being me and can’t imagine being anyone else.

2) You’re stranded on a desert island and allowed just 3 essentials. What would you choose?

Knife, Plastic sheet, matches

3) What is your idea of a perfect weekend?

Time with my family, outdoors in the British countryside

4) If you won the lottery what would your first purchase be?

I’d leave that pleasure to my Wife

5) What is the most satisfying part of your job?

Bringing a process to life and why when followed it does make sense

6) And what do you find challenging about your job?

You have to distance yourself from the emotion of the decision. The decision you make is the one that is best for the organisation and not necessarily the one your heart tells you to go with

7) What is your advice for anybody looking to enter your career?

Persevere and don’t give up

8) Which part of sharedserviceslink’s Summit for Global Process Owners are you most looking forward to?

Meeting other process owners and sharing experience, learning what worked for them and maybe what didn’t work quite as well

Martin will be speaking at the Summit for Global Process Owners, taking place between September 3rd-5th, 2014 at the Kensington Close Hotel in London.

His presentation, ‘Driving a 100% PO compliance through the process owner model at Mondeléz International’ will explore what process ownership means at Mondeléz. From how the role has evolved to how risk is driving the focus on 100% compliance and how the 100% PO programme is being delivered, Martin will be sharing his experience of how the programme has performed under the process ownership model.
