The 2011 Deloitte Global Shared Services Survey finds that while cost reduction remains a benefit of shared services, other areas are proving equally valuable or more so, such as controls, data visibility and creating a platform for growth.

The importance of an organisation’s culture and the need for change management are also critical to fully leverage the value of shared services.

The survey received over more than 270 responses representing over 700 shared services centres from around the world. It also examines:

  • Increasing middle-market reach
  • The need for greater governance as more organisations pursue global centres
  • New functions for shared services, such as real estate, sales and marketing, and legal
  • Service quality as the most important selling point for long-term satisfaction

The executive summary is available on the Deloitte website.
