Director of Accounting

Chartway Federal Credit Union is seeking a Director of Accounting to work at our corporate location in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Responsible to the Corporate Financial Officer for effective management of Accounting Department personnel; accurate reporting of the Credit Union’s financial statements; efficient operations of accounting systems and processes.

Ensures adherence to accounting procedures, policies, internal controls, GAAP, and state and federal regulations. Reports discrepancies, risk issues, and inadequacies to the CFO with solutions or recommendations for improvement.

The successful candidate will have complete knowledge to maintain the integrity of all Credit Union financial records which shall consist of:

1. General Ledger
2. Accounts Payable Processing
3. Fixed Asset Reporting
4. Bank/Corporate Statements
5. Offline in-house transactional systems
6. Credit Card Systems

The ability to prepare, analyze and implement the budgeting process; possess extensive knowledge of Prologue accounting software; and knowledge of compliance with Backup Withholding (IRS), and Dividend Interest Reporting and Regulation D.
