SAP has received a second request from U.S. antitrust officials for more information about its pending $4.51 billion acquisition of Ariba.
The German company said that it's in the process of responding to the Department of Justice's request. If antitrust officials clear the deal, SAP expects it to close in the fourth quarter of this year.
In May, SAP said it will pay $45 per share for Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Ariba, which makes Web-based software that connects suppliers and buyers online. Ariba's board has approved the takeover.
Ariba's revenue grew almost 40 percent to $444 million in its latest fiscal year. SAP has said the deal should add to its adjusted profit in 2013.
SAP's U.S. shares rose 70 cents to close the shortened session at $60.73.
