Salmat sells BPO business division to Fujifilm

Australian business services provider Salmat has announced that Fujifilm will buy its business process outsourcing (BPO) division.

The agreement covers all of Salmat Document Management Solutions, its 11 subsidiaries and Salmat Asia Ltd, the Asian business unit of Salmat Document Management Solutions for AU$375m.

Salmat reportedly received an unsolicited approach earlier this year about the acquisition of the division, which sparked what the company said was "considerable" interest from "a range of parties".

Salmat and Fujifilm are intending to work together and Salmat hope to be able to use Fujifilm's strong Asian presence as a springboard to launch products into the market.

Salmat CEO, Grant Harrod said, "We have taken the business a long way in recent years, but we also recognise that the next stage of BPO's development is better suited to an owner with global reach and broader outsourcing ambition”
