Somerset County Council Says its Shared Services Will Save More Than Expected in Procurement Function
In December Somerset Council said that its use of Southwest One, the shared services firm majority owned by IBM in which Somerset owns a stake, will save it £150m from procurement over 10 years. Its original target was £140m.
Sam Crabb, the county's portfolio holder for resources, said: "I am pleased with the results of this partnership project and how far we have come in just the first year. Our residents will see even further benefits over the coming months as this contract beds in."
The overall contract target for savings is £200m over the 10 years.
