Hounslow Council jumps on the shared services bandwagon for local authorities
Public bodies with more than 250 people are being urged to join in sharing services for back office operations including finance. The Cabinet Office has set up a team to boost the take up and develop the strategy for convergence and consolidation across all government departments. As a result of this, the London Borough of Southwark and Barrow Borough council have now been joined by Hounslow. Hounslow Council expects to save £10 million over 10 years from this initiative. Bromley Borough Council has already improved its benefit processing time from 144 to 27 days.
