South Tyneside Secures BT's Position in Local Government
BT has signed a £184 million BPO contract with South Tyneside Council following two months' negotiation since being selected as the preferred supplier in July.
Key to the deal is the creation of a new BT-owned delivery vehicle called BT South Shields, which will provide a range of services to South Tyneside including IT, human resources, procurement and financial services over the next ten years.
BT aims to use the centre to provide shared services for other organisations over time, and has guaranteed up to 1,250 jobs in the service centre.
