Gauteng Shared Service Centre under the spotlight
In wider accusations that include the Gauteng Provincial Government, the Gauteng Shared Service Centre has become a point of focus, being described as 'notoriously inefficient' and 'rife with corruption allegations that have never been examined' according to Democratic Alliance Leader Jack Bloom.
The accusations stem from the National Anti-Corruption Hotline, established in 2004. According to sources, only 122 of 1000 referrals in the 2007/2008 financial years have been dealt with in the last 3 years; with all hotline tip offs sent to the Shared Service Centre initially.
Corruption activities were to be reported centrally and then be re-directed to the relevant departments, and in Gauteng's case, directed to the GSSC before reaching the relevant departments, which is where they appear to be getting 'stuck'.
