In January 2026, the Oman Tax Authority (OTA) was officially designated as the Peppol Authority for the Sultanate. In this role, OTA will oversee domestic Peppol network governance, including establishing requirements, accrediting service providers, and enforcing standards as part of Oman’s national e‑invoicing regime.

Oman’s national e‑invoicing initiative, Fawtara, adopts a Peppol-aligned 5-corner model, where accredited service providers (Access Points) manage structured invoice exchange between businesses and reporting to the tax authority.

Formal accreditation of Peppol Access Points is scheduled to begin in May 2026. The first mandatory phase will launch in August 2026 for approximately 100 of the largest VAT-registered taxpayers, with subsequent phases gradually expanding mandatory compliance to other large taxpayers and then broader business segments.
