Wolters Kluwer has acquired European tax automation provider Marosa for €112 million, in a move designed to accelerate the development of its global indirect tax technology capabilities.

The acquisition was completed on 4 August by Wolters Kluwer's Corporate Performance & ESG division, according to the company's 2026 Half-Year Report. The €112 million enterprise value was paid in cash.

Marosa specialises in VAT compliance, e-invoicing and other indirect tax requirements, providing technology and regulatory expertise to multinational businesses. Its technology covers VAT returns, e-invoicing, real-time reporting, VAT recovery and other country-specific reporting requirements. Marosa's e-invoicing offering supports the issuing, receipt and monitoring of electronic invoices and is designed to connect e-invoicing data with VAT reporting and compliance processes.

Wolters Kluwer said Marosa's VAT compliance and other solutions will complement its existing US corporate tax business, including CCH SureTax, and help accelerate the development of a broader global indirect tax platform.

The acquisition brings 112 FTEs to Wolters Kluwer, alongside what the company described as deep regulatory expertise, proven technology and an extensive multinational customer base.

Marosa has also been growing rapidly. According to Wolters Kluwer, the company's unaudited gross revenues increased by more than 25% in 2025 to approximately €10 million.

The deal comes as multinational businesses face a rapidly expanding range of digital tax requirements, including mandatory B2B e-invoicing, continuous transaction controls and increasingly digital VAT reporting.
